Art4Darling
Project manager Adri van Aswegen-janse van Vuuren started with The Darling Trust in 2006. Adri is a qualified social worker and is thus able, through the art lessons provided through The Darling Trust, to inspire and encourage the youth to express themselves and circumstances through their art. Life Skills training remains an integral part of Adri’s art lessons assisting her as facilitator to monitor home environments and circumstances. Adri works closely with the community welfare worker and offices.
Selected childrens’ artworks are for sale to the public, in order to raise funds to cover extra art material costs – thereby playing an important part in establishing a ‘no handout’ understanding as well as instilling self-confidence and pride in personal achievements.
Though based in Yzerfontein, Adri has always had a big heart for Darling and remains involved in various community projects – including Groeneweide Retirement Home as well as workshops and holiday programs in collaboration with Darling Outreach Foundation.
